Homework Duotangs

Today your child should be coming home with their French Homework duotang as was mentioned in the Welcome newsletter. This duotang will be send home at the beginning of each month with some very general homework suggestions, some theme vocabulary to review, some oral phrases to practice, and/or the occasional worksheet for the month. What you choose to do is for each family to decide. The goals are 1) exposure to French and 2) your child's understanding that home-school is a partnership in their learning French as a second and often third language!

Please set up a French homework routine that works for your family. See the suggestions provided and work out a commitment of 1-3 times a week spending 5-10 either reviewing French vocabulary or simply sharing Youtube songs posted on the Blog or listening to short French cartoons/videos on MiniTFO. This is a great website with some short age-appropriate videos. A French library book will also come home weekly once library rotations begin. For those families with little knowledge of French, you may simply take a picture walk through the book, talk about what you think is happening in the book and perhaps look up 1 or 2 new words to find their meaning!

Either keep at home in a special place accessible to your child and return at the end of each month for new sheets OR keep it in your child's agenda bag.
